toraya cafe

In a previous entry I had mention my jealousy towards Erich and Max's trip to Japan. I really wanted to go with them and visit Manami! Well, they brought me back some goodies from Toraya Cafe! I received a White Azuki bean Castella cake, seasame paste, and pureed azuki bean paste. DELISH!!!! Thanks guys for thinking of me. Have a great time in Mexico!

hot time with iced creamy strawberries

Yesterday I got some wonderful organic strawberries from the market. It's so hot, that I decided to make ice cream. I started by making a strawberry jam.

I stirred for 20 minutes on medium heat a pint of chopped strawberries and 1/4 cup of sugar, and a splash of meyer lemon juice (Thanks Dave!). In a different pot, I simmered 2 cups of heavy cream along with 2 cup of milk and a pinch of salt. I combined the two in an ice bath and once it cooled I placed in the fridge.
Today I put my strawberry mixture in the ice cream maker Jimmy and Greg got us for Christmas. The flavor was delicate and not too sweet, the texture uber creamy.

It's so hot right now, I just want to bathe in it!

renegade farmer's market

The Temescal Farmer's Market is pretty cool, but I found a renegade farmer's market a block away. The story goes, The Cake Ladies wanted to rent out a spot, but Blue Bottle wouldn't allow it. They had the monopoly on coffee selling and The Cake Ladies, wanted to introduce San Francisco's Ritual Roasters. I am not a coffee drinker, but Jersey is and he prefers RR over BB.

You can find them on Avon Street in a pretty yard. Jersey and I felt at home with all the punk rock parents buying coffee and cupcakes.

We had caramel chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. Great flavors and moist!

Kaia and Jersey chilling.

Kaia is lamping around!

Rockridge graffiti is so cute.

little girls

I got a special treat on Friday when Jung and Divo came over. They brought the whole troop with them too. How crazy is it, we all have little girls! I hope Noe, Avalon, Sophie, and Kaia stay friends forever.

a schaefer easter

Rick and Sandy invited us over for Easter this year; we put on our Easters hat and went.

They started off with an egg hunt and then brunch, everything was yummy and it was nice to see old co workers with their new babies! Thanks for having us over the wine country farm Sandy!
It was nice to hang out with the Breviks in Sonoma!

Hope next year we'll see Max and Erich! I am jealous they are in Japan right now.

packaging

I am a sucker for packaging. I love it! It's one of the reasons why I am in marketing. Although, lately I haven't had a chance to do anything cool with the games I had been working on. I found these things cool.
Amaryll at Boulette's Larder is now making a high end chef's skin care line. It's $75, but worth it. She made an exfoliate, burn cream, and moisture seal creme. I got the moisture seal creme and it's amazing. All natural, the product is great for people that wash their hands a lot (parents and cooks!)I love the glass jar and the simple graphics.

On the other end of the spectrum here is a cute illustrated box from Two By Two Artisan Biscuits. The cookies on the inside were delectable owls and pussy cats.

going on four months

Kaia is going to be 4 months soon.

This is our Sunday Brunch wakeup.
This is what happens when Jersey dresses her. She is a mixed-matched mess.

seattle spring good bye

We left Seattle. I will miss Macrina and walking around Queen Anne at night. I will miss the music, especially KEXP 90.3, the best radio station in the country. But my heart will miss Karen, Tom, Clara, and Murphy dog. I think you all everyday!!!!

Here are the last things that I showed Kaia in the backyard.
